Heroes oggi raggiunge la veneranda età di quarant’anni. Non ci sono parole per definire la grandezza dell’artista, creatore di molti generi e stili musicali. Bowie era una figura camaleontica, fautore di personaggi caratterizzanti album come Ziggy in The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. In Heroes ci troviamo difronte un Bowie più maturo. Album, infatti, scritto nel suo periodo definito “berlinese”, dove egli scrisse ben 3 album, ripulendosi dalla “follia” di inizio carriera sfociatasi nella dipendenza da droghe.

Nella canzone la trattazione è quella di due amanti che si baciano sotto il muro di Berlino.  La musica è stata scritta a due mani da Bowie e Eno, di Heroes Eno dice che il motivo del brano suonò fin dal principio “epico ed eroico”, parola ripetuta in modo ridondante (in positivo) nel testo.
